Water, in all its forms, serves as a reminder of both the beauty and the force of nature. Water inspires awe, and I believe that through art, there is an opportunity to capture its tremendous power and immense tranquility. It is not my intention to copy nature. Instead my desire is to express a mood, a moment in time, and leave a piece of who I am and my appreciation of the subject matter on the canvas.
Rick Thurston is a professional interior designer who has been working with oils for the past six years. He is captivated by what occurs when the atmosphere seems to pause and provides a snapshot of the moments between things. That has been the narrative for much of his collection which is inspired by the works of his talented peers and well as the masters from the 15th through the 20th century. He attended the Parsons School of Design, the New York School of Interior Design, studied at NY’s prestigious Art Students League and is a member of Garrison Art Center’s Leadership Circle. Rick has participated in many one person and group shows and has the honor of having his work included in private collections, both residential and commercial, throughout the US and Europe.
